Hope

In Hebrew, the word for hope is "Tiqvah".  It means “cord”.  As in being "tied" to faith.  Ancient Rabbis used this image in their teaching encouraging the Jewish people to "hold on" to God's promises.

The Bible connects this image to Jesus when it says  "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”  Heb 16:9
